Biography
Dr. Karla C. Alejandro is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist dedicated to provide patients with the best in eye care of retinal diseases such as Diabetic Retinopathy and Macular Degeneration. Dr. Alejandro is skilled in the treatment of macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, tears, macular holes, puckers, floaters, retinal vein occlusions, complications of cataract surgery, and vitritis/uveitis. She is also consider an expert in the field, and use cutting edge eye lasers and medications including: Visudyne, Lucentis, Avastin, Eylea, Ozurdex, Triesence, and Jetrea.
Dr. Alejandro Admit patients, consult, diagnose, perform history and physical examination relates to the eye. Furthermore, she evaluate, treat, order diagnostic studies, procedures, interpret ancillary data, and perform surgical procedures on patients of all ages presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the eye; including its related structures and visual pathways, but excluding posterior damage.
As a retinal specialist she is highly trained with special skills to diagnose and treat specific parts of the complex human visual system. For the diagnosis of retina and vitreous disease she always performs a thorough examination that require highly technical equipment and testing. The medical treatments and surgical procedures used by Dr. Alejandro are extremely exacting and delicate. Most of her retinal surgeries require a microscope and are therefore called microsurgical procedures. She works on extremely delicate tissues in an incredibly small space.
Dr. Alejandro uses laser as a vital medical tool for procedures in both her office and hospital settings. In addition, she is considerate an expert in the field do to her experience treating patients who has experienced severe eye trauma, cancer, and patients dealing with hereditary diseases of the eye.
