House Passes Prior Authorization Reform
House Passes Prior Authorization Reform
Thanks to the hundreds of ASRS members who contacted their representatives this week, the House passed the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act this afternoon by voice vote. The bill would require Medicare Advantage plans to streamline prior authorization by implementing electronic processing and exempt services with high approval rates. In addition, it requires plans to report on their use of prior authorization.
Retina specialists joined with their colleagues across medicine to advocate for this bill’s passage to reduce administrative burdens and, most importantly, to ensure patients can access the care they need. Thank you for your contribution on behalf of your patients.
ASRS will be working with the rest of the medical community to ensure this bill is passed by the Senate before the end of the year.
