The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that it is holding claims with dates of service from January 1 to January 14, 2016. CMS expects that the hold will not have a major impact on providers.
 

Claims submitted through the end of 2015 will not be affected.
 

According to CMS, it is holding claims in order to implement corrections to technical errors discovered after the 2016 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) was published to assure claims are processed correctly.
 

ASRS is monitoring for details on the technical corrections from CMS. Specifically, we anticipate CMS will update the global period for laser codes 67227 and 67228 from 90 to 10 days at the urging of ASRS and the American Medical Association Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC).
