Mid-Year Forum

The American Academy of Ophthalmology is partnering with ophthalmic state, subspecialty and specialized interest societies and training programs to include members in training as special guests at the Academy’s Mid-Year Forum 2022 through its Advocacy Ambassador ProgramApplications for the 2022 Mid-Year Forum are now closed.

In its 2004 pilot year, 14 members in training attended the Mid-Year Forum.  At Mid-Year Forum 2019, there were 170 Advocacy Ambassador Program participants sponsored by training programs and 49 societies - 37 state ophthalmology societies and 12 ophthalmic subspecialty/specialized interest societies.

Following the Mid-Year Forum, the AAO provides member-in-training participants with a template PowerPoint presentation that they can modify to add their personal experiences. Participants are expected to return to their training programs and brief their colleagues about the experience.  The Mid-Year Forum registration fee is waived for members in training (residents and those undergoing fellowship training).
