Description

Hosted by the ASRS Empowerment & Opportunity Section, this session will feature a panel discussion examining how the specialty is evolving for the next generation of trainees and early-career physicians. This session will highlight emerging changes in clinical innovation, residency training, workforce dynamics, and mentorship, while offering insight into how future ophthalmologists can adapt, lead, and thrive in a rapidly changing field. The panelists will explore key changes shaping the next generation of ophthalmology, including innovations in clinical and surgical technology, evolving residency training expectations, workforce trends, practice transformation, and the growing emphasis on mentorship, leadership, and diversity in the field.

Following the presentation, participants in the Empowerment & Opportunity Mentorship Program will continue the conversation in small-group breakout rooms with their mentors and mentees. Attendees who are not part of the mentorship program are warmly invited to join us for the presentation and will be asked to exit the Zoom session when the breakout discussions begin.
