William F. Mieler, MD, Named ARVO President-Elect

William F. Mieler, MD, has been named president-elect of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). Mieler was appointed to this position Wednesday, May 8 during the ARVO 2013 Annual Meeting in Seattle and will begin his term as president in 2014.
 
Mieler, a professor and vice-chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences with the University of Illinois at Chicago, is a former ASRS Board member and 2011 Founders Award recipient. He has also served in a variety of capacities with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Board of Ophthalmology, the American Board of Medical Specialists, the Macula Society, and the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology.
