Nicole K. Scripsema, MD

Fellowship program: Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary
Fellowship Completion Year: 2020
Specialty: Medical
Desired practice setting: Retina only, Academic
Desired regions: Happy to consider any larger urban area!

Dr. Scripsema's CV

Bio: Thank you for taking a moment to review my qualifications. My name is Nicole Scripsema, I am currently a vitreoretinal fellow at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago. I find myself in Chicago after completing residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan and a fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London specializing in pediatric and adult uveitis as well as inherit ed retinal diseases.

As my final year of fellowship begins, I have started searching for potential job opportunities commencing in August or September 2020. My interest in teaching and background in retinal imaging research have directed my job search towards academic or private practice positions with opportunities for education and clinical research. As a trainee, I had the opportunity to experience working in an environment with a great sense of community that prioritized patient care, education, and research. I can only hope to find or foster similar experiences as I transition in my career from a trainee to a practicing ophthalmologist.

While the life of a clinician-scientist requires a significant amount of balance, I had the honor of training with and learning from a many incredibly talented physicians and surgeons. As the motivated and curious physician I am, along with the example set by my mentors, I feel prepared to handle high volume, high acuity clinics while simultaneously executing meaningful research projects. I look forward to the challenges that life as an educator and researcher provide, and the opportunity to give back to the field.

In summary, as a motivated, caring, and curious physician who is dedicated to both my patients and to training our future generation of ophthalmologists, I hope to find a position that would allow me to continue to serve my community and the field. Thank you for your consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or to discuss an available opportunity.
