Biography

John S. Pollack, MD is an internationally recognized retinal clinician, surgeon, and educator. He is a partner at Illinois Retina Associates and an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Pollack has played a leading role in retina education and professional society leadership for more than two decades. He is a past president of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the ASRS Foundation and served on the ASRS Board of Directors for 18 years. He was a co-founding editor of the ASRS Preferences and Trends (PAT) Survey, the largest international survey of medical and surgical practice patterns in retina.

He has served as Director or Invited Faculty at more than 120 scientific meetings and has delivered over 200 national and international presentations. Dr. Pollack has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for multiple ophthalmology journals. His clinical research experience includes participation in numerous major national clinical trials as Study Chairman, Principal Investigator, and Co-Investigator.

Dr. Pollack has also held senior advisory and leadership roles in ophthalmic innovation, including serving as Chief Medical Officer at jCyte, Inc. and Neurotech Pharmaceuticals. He currently serves on the boards of PulseMedica, InnSight Technologies, and the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness.
