Biography

Dr. Faes obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Zurich, along with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medicine and Psychology. She completed her Ophthalmology residency in Lucerne, Switzerland, and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. Her professional journey includes a one-year fellowship at Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York, after which she became a consultant ophthalmologist in Northeast Switzerland. In addition, she plays a vital role at the Moorfields Eye Hospital Reading Center, where she guides the AI biomarker pipeline.

In academia, Dr. Faes serves as a lecturer at University College London, co-leading the "Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence" module. She is also an educator in "Clinical Epidemiology" at the University of Zurich and contributes as an editor for the Nature journal The Eye. Furthermore, Dr. Faes is a principal investigator in a British multi-center clinical trial targeting treatments for neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
