Biography

I am an Iraqi vitreoretinal surgeon and ophthalmologist based in Baghdad, with a special interest in the medical and surgical management of retinal disease. My practice focuses on the care of patients with diabetic retinal disease, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, macular pathology, and other complex vitreoretinal disorders requiring advanced diagnostic and surgical expertise.
I hold FRCS (Glasgow), FICO, MRCS (Ed), and MBChB, and I am a Fellow of the Arab Board of Health Specializations with advanced training in vitreoretinal surgery. Alongside my clinical work, I am actively engaged in ophthalmology training and in the education of new board trainees. I also serve as the Program Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program in Iraq within the Arab Board of Health Specializations, with responsibilities in trainee supervision, fellowship development, and postgraduate education.
My academic and professional interests are centered on advancing retina care and training in Iraq through education, collaboration, and the promotion of high standards in vitreoretinal practice. My approach combines surgical precision, evidence-based medicine, and a strong commitment to improving visual outcomes for patients with retinal disease.
