Biography

I am a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist with a focused expertise in inherited retinal diseases (IRDs), electrophysiology, and retinal genetics. At the Duke Eye Center, I serve as Director of the Inherited Retinal Diseases Fellowship and Director of the Retina Machine Learning Laboratory, where I lead interventional clinical trials aimed at advancing novel therapies. My clinical and research work is dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, with a particular emphasis on conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt disease, including emerging gene therapies. I am also committed to enhancing diagnostic precision through the integration of machine learning and advanced image processing, and to training the next generation of IRD specialists.
