Biography
Dr. Fard earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she graduated in the top third of her class and received recognition for clinical research in nutritional science. It was during medical school that she discovered her passion for ophthalmology—drawn to the profound impact of restoring vision and the precision required for ocular microsurgery.
She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she served in numerous leadership roles and cultivated her passion for retina through hands-on experience managing complex pathologies, including diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachments. Her early background in physiology and nutrition shaped her approach to both prevention and treatment of retinal disease.
Dr. Fard went on to complete an intensive two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Louisville. As the sole fellow in a high-volume program, she received advanced surgical training under the mentorship of highly experienced retinal specialists, operating three days a week year-round. This experience solidified her expertise in complex retinal procedures and her reputation for precision, focus, and professionalism.
