Biography
Dr. Churgin was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona. He attended the University of Arizona for undergraduate education, graduating summa cum laude on the Dean's List with Distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He then attended medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Phoenix Campus, graduating with the honor of being inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in his last year of medical school.
Dr. Churgin's training then continued with an internship in Internal Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a 3-year Ophthalmology Residency at the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. He then completed a 2-year Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship at the University of Utah's Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Churgin is now in a growing private practice - Phoenix Retina Associates - in Phoenix and Peoria, Arizona. He treats medical and surgical diseases of the retina, including retinal detachment, macular holes, epiretinal membrane, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration among others. He is fluent in Spanish.
