Biography

Dr. Miguel Brito Rodríguez is a Retina & Vitreous specialists who pursued studies in Mexico, Venezuela and the United States.

He received his specialization in Retinal and Vitreous surgeries and diseases, at Parkland Memorial Hospital of the UT Southwestern Medical Center, accredited by the University of Texas, in Dallas.

Fellow of the American Retina and Vitreous Society (FASRS), Dr. Brito has built an extensive resumé in both medical practice and institutional efforts, with vast surgical experience and the permanent goal of developing ophthalmology in Venezuela.

In 2006 he co-founded the Instituto Docente de Especialidades Oftalmológicas - IDEO (Teaching Institute of Ophthalmological Specialties ), an ophthalmological private clinic that, in alliance with the University of Zulia (a public and autonomous University in Maracaibo), serves as an educational center for students of the Postgraduate Course in Ophthalmology, and specialties in Retina, Anterior Segment and Glaucoma, being the only ones to offer them in Venezuela under the accreditation of the CNU (National University Council). Dr. Brito is Head of the Retina Postgraduate Program, and Professor of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Ophthalmology at the University of Zulia.

Dr. Brito is a recognized surgeon with a career as an author of published research papers, a national and international lecturer, and a respected professor driven by his commitment to his patients and the Venezuelan medical community.
