Hosted by the ASRS Empowerment & Opportunity Section, this presentation serves as a practical guide for professionals at any career stage to advocate for inclusion and belonging within the field of ophthalmology. Embracing these initiatives is a vital step toward more effectively supporting patients who have been historically marginalized and disenfranchised by the healthcare system. Whether you are beginning your medical journey, stepping into a fellowship, or leading as a seasoned mentor, you have the power to advocate for those who are most vulnerable.
Together, we will examine how fostering a true culture of inclusion and belonging builds supportive training environments, impacts mentorship and recruitment, and ultimately enhances patient care across academic and private practice settings.
