Focused Practice Designation Town Hall Meeting
9/29/2025 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Description
Please join us on Monday, September 29 at 7 PM (CT) for a Town Hall webinar exploring the Focused Practice Designation for medical and surgical retina.
A Focused Practice Designation (FPD) for retina was approved by the ABMS in 2024. Last May, development of the FPD was paused after an ABO survey exposed some concerns and confusion within the retina community. While ASRS Preferences and Trends surveys had shown strong support, with nearly 80% of respondents in favor, these new insights from ABO underscored the importance of ensuring clarity and alignment.
ASRS has initiated additional educational efforts and last weekend the ABO Board voted to resume development of the designation pending their upcoming resurvey of the retina community.
The September 29 webinar will feature panelists from a wide variety of practice types and settings who will again share information about what the FPD means for you and the critical role it plays in maintaining patient safety. There will be time for questions and discussion.
