Repeat Policy Change, Repeat Opposition: ASRS Challenges Medicare Advantage BCBS of Minnesota Cuts to E/Ms Billed With Modifier 25
Last week, ASRS requested a meeting with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota to discuss its revised policy that reduces payment for Medicare Advantage Evaluation and Management services by 50% when performed on the same day as a surgical procedure submitted with Modifier-25.
The plan tried to implement a similar policy in 2018, but ASRS helped to successfully thwart its implementation. Such policies create barriers that could result in a loss of access for patients.
