ASRS, Surgical Community Call on Congress to Reform Medicare Physician Payment
This week, the Surgical Coalition, of which ASRS is a member, released a statement outlining our recommendations for reforming Medicare physician payment. Among the recommendations are to implement an inflationary-based payment adjustment, prevent all cuts to physician pay in 2024, apply standalone E/M code values to post-op services in global codes, and to eliminate CMS’ poorly-defined E/M “add-on” code. This statement will be used to assist in ongoing advocacy efforts and build support for bipartisan legislation to implement an inflationary adjustment to the fee schedule.
