ASRS, Medical Community Call on Congress to Address Medicare Physician Payment
Late last week, ASRS, the AMA, and the entire medical community sent a letter to Congress in support of a recent recommendation by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) to implement an inflation-based update to Medicare physician payment. MedPAC made its historic recommendation based on immediate inflationary pressures and lagging physician payment over the past two decades. In our letter, we urge Congress to take action and authorize inflation-based updates to the physician fee schedule. MedPAC is an advisory body to Congress, but does not have the authority to implement policy.
