ASRS and Coalition Call on Congress to Reform Medicare Physician Payment Expeditiously
This week, ASRS joined with more than 100 other medical societies in a letter to Congress reiterating our recommendation that it immediately begin work to address inadequacies in Medicare physician payment. The letter reminds Congress that it did not fully prevent payment cuts for 2023 and even if physicians had been made whole and paid at 2022 levels, there would still be no inflationary adjustment to keep up with increased costs. We urge Congress to undertake a wholesale reform of the fee schedule to increase payments and reduce the impacts of budget neutrality.
