Bipartisan Legislation to Prevent Conversion Factor Cut Introduced in the House
Late last week, Reps. Ami Bera, MD (D-CA) and Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN) introduced H.R. 6020, which would prevent the 3.75% cut to the Medicare physician fee schedule conversion factor scheduled for January 1, 2022. The cut is due to budget neutrality adjustments from the 2021 E/M visit increase. While ASRS and the medical community support this effort to avert the cut, it is more likely that a fix will be included in must-pass year-end spending legislation as opposed to a standalone bill.
