ONC Announces New AI-Cybersecurity Governance Framework for Healthcare
Last week, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) announced the release of a new resource for HIPAA-covered entities to assist in cybersecurity governance related to the growing use of AI in healthcare. Authored by the Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC), a working group of government agencies and industry stakeholders, including ONC, the Health Industry AI Cyber Governance Framework Implementation Guide addresses the unique cybersecurity and privacy challenges the healthcare industry faces as it adopts AI. It targets the identification and mitigation of AI-specific cyber risks, including data poisoning, model drift, and adversarial attacks, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other existing regulations.
