UHC Announces Prior Authorization Gold Card Program: ASRS Seeks Additional Details
This week, Unitedhealthcare (UHC) announced it would begin a prior authorization gold card program beginning October 1, 2024. Designed to reduce burden for physicians and providers who have proven track record of furnishing appropriate care, ASRS has long been an advocate for “gold card” programs to help ease administrative burdens on practices. UHC notes it will release additional details on its new gold card program in September, but indicated that qualifying providers will be automatically opted into the program in October. ASRS has contacted UHC for information on what items and services the program will include and will keep members informed.
