ASRS Advocacy Prompts CMS to Redetermine MIPS Cost Measure Targeting Reviews
This week, CMS began approving 2022 MIPS targeted review requests made by retina specialists who were inappropriately scored on the diabetes episode-based cost measure. The notifications indicate that those who filed targeted reviews can expect to see updated MIPS scores in their CMS portals within the next two weeks. This change will impact 2024 payments.
This change is a direct result of advocacy by ASRS, AAO and ASCRS. Previously, we had secured a commitment from CMS to modify the attribution methodology for the 2023performance year and beyond, but they had not made a decision for 2022.
