DESCRIPTION:We have the pleasure to announce the first edition of FLOREtina
from 10 to 13 December 2015\, in the city of Florence.\nThe Programme Com
mittee is composed of specialists from different parts of the world now sp
reading the invitation among one’s National Association thus assuring an i
nternational target to the conference.\nWe are doing our best to make FLOR
Etina a future  biannual reference for updates and education in our field.
The purpose of FLORetina 2015 is to present and discuss the “gold standa
rd” in diagnostic and both medical and surgical management of retinal cond
itions\, promote improvement and change in practice\, performance and comp
 etence.\nMain Topics\nDiabetic macular edema:\n\nPrevention of diabetic re
tinopathy is now well known as a necessary condition but it will not chang
e the increasing burden of visual impairment from macular edema\nAnti-VEGF
and sustained release corticosteroids: correct strategies for best result
s.\nCombined therapies and systemic drugs with new comers will help us.\nM
inimally invasive surgery can be an option? \n\nRVO\n\nManagement of macul
 ar edema\n\nMacular surgery\n\nNew minimally invasive techniques\, associa
tion with drugs and new diagnostic tools are refining our surgery. The exp
ert panel will debate personal experience and standard of treatment in mac
ular surgical diseases. \n\nMyopic maculopathy\n\nMyopia will be a major p
roblem for health care systems in the future as the prevalence is increasi
ng worldwide. Macular neovascular and atrophic changes as well as traction
maculopathy with foveoschisis are partially treatable thanks to new drugs
and surgery.\nAnti-VEGF as soon as possible for how long?\nPosterior inde
ntation or vitrectomy or combined for Myopic foveoschisis\n\nThe posterior
segment in cataract surgery:\nContinuous changes in AS surgery raise seve
ral important issues:\n\nNew femtolaser technology and premium IOLs can be
adapted to combined surgery for macular cases\nPrevention of macular edem
a in diabetic and uveitis patients has now effective chance of success wit
h short and long acting drugs.\nTreatment of intraoperative and postoperat
ive complications: timing and strategies\n\nVitreomacular traction and mac
 ular hole\nRetinal detachment\nMiscellaneous:\n\nMultiple observations hav
e underlined the role of episcleral surgery in phakic patients: is it stil
l true in the era of 27G?\nPVR staining is now a routine procedure in comp
lex cases and ROSO. Endotamponades are essential tools\, and new heavy liq
uids are facing the market.\nPostoperative complications can be prevented
(correct timing\, appropriate technique) or treated: intraocular pressure
 elevation\, low vision improvement\, re-detachment rate)\n\nSeveral issues
  are debated\n\nPediatric ophthalmology: anti-VEGF and vitreolysis\nUveiti
 s: new drugs\nVitreous floaters: laser\, surgery or none\n\nDry AMD\nA deb
ate is ongoing on the role of antioxidants and compounding evidence show t
he significance of genetic testing.\n\nSupplements\nFIlters and IOLs\nDiag
nosing-prognosing\n\nWet AMD\n\nTrials and drugs face to face. Dosing regi
men\, HTA evaluations\nIntravitreal injection technique: preventing compli
cations\nChoosing and switching therapies\nA correct diagnosis is still im
portant? Do we choose always the correct therapy?\nNew drugs\n\nRetinal pr
 ostesis\, stem cells and genetic therapy\nRETINA: Innovations/research/new
  tech\n\nDevelopments in retinal laser- lights - cutters\nOcular changes d
 uring surgery: perfusion\, temperature\nDelivery systems\n\nIMAGING\n\nWha
t can we see with adaptive optics\nIntraoperative OCT (useful toll or new
fashion?)\nNew OCTs and choroidal images\nNew wave lengths to explore reti
nal layers\n\nRETINAWS\nLive Surgery\nThe programme will include  surgery
sessions slots from operating theatre of University Hospital of Florence.\
