Masters of the ASRS 2nd Annual Meeting
February 1 - 5, 2006
Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort, Puerto Rico
Program Chair: Paul E. Tornambe, M.D., ASRS Immediate Past-President
I would like to invite you to participate in the Second Annual Masters of the ASRS Meeting, which will be held at the Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort in "easy to get to from anywhere" Puerto Rico. The meeting will be limited to no more than 125 members to permit a small meeting atmosphere and allow for an extensive exchange of ideas. The theme of the meeting remains presentations of interesting clinical cases, which provide a springboard for discussion and "News You Can Use". Preference will be given to the more senior members by allowing them the privilege to register the first week registration opens, however all members are invited to attend.
The meeting will begin on Wednesday evening, February 1st, with an opening guest lecture followed by 6-minute presentations by the corporate supporters. The evening will conclude with a welcome cocktail reception. The daily meetings will be held from 8:00am to 12noon with afternoons free to talk shop on your own in a relaxed environment. Thursday and Friday evenings are 'dark' to allow you to get together with friends and/or the corporate supporters. The meeting will end with a farewell dinner held on Saturday night, February 4th, and departures at your leisure on Sunday, February 5th. There is a strict dress code—NO TIES.
Thursday's session will focus on Macular Degeneration. A majority of the session will be spent discussing Avastin (please see opposite side for details). Friday's session will focus on Surgical Retina. You are encouraged to present your worst complication, best result, new technique or instrument etc. Saturday morning will focus on other medical retinal diseases including diabetes, vein occlusions, etc.
All presentations will be oral presentations selected using the "News You Can Use" criteria. Not all presentations can be accepted in order to permit ample time for discussion of the topics. We want quality, not quantity, with extensive audience participation. So, when that next interesting patient comes by, put their chart aside and consider presenting the case at the 2006 Masters Meeting.
