Retina Case Conference
Submit a challenging and unusual medical case (i.e., fluorescein, ICG, OCT, ultrasound, etc.) or a surgical case and get a room full of opinions. Only one case per person may be submitted.
Film Festival
Submissions are solicited for what promises to be another outstanding Film Festival. The festival showcases the observational skills, innovation, and creativity within our ranks in a most entertaining venue.
Each film will be judged according to originality, educational content, audiovisual quality, script writing, editing quality, and effectiveness. A panel of judges will rate and score each film. The coveted Rhett Buckler Award, an impressive eight lb., 24 carat gold-plated statuette, will be awarded to the top 10 films. The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Tuesday, August 31.
Young Physicians Section Symposium (YPS)
This symposium will present topics of interest geared toward retinal specialists recently out of fellowship. The symposium will offer an informal forum to present topics on the various challenges facing young retinal specialists.
The symposium fosters substantial discussion, presented in an enjoyable, lively, and highly interactive format, and also allows more senior members the opportunity to impart "pearls of the trade." In addition to clinical management issues, topics will cover the business, political, and off-the-beaten-path side of vitreoretinal practice. Moderators will be YPS Co-Chairs Mina Chung and Geoffrey Emerson.
Each year, the YPS presents the Crystal Apple Award to an ASRS member who has gone to great lengths to advance the education and professional development of young vitreoretinal specialists. The 2010 Crystal Apple Award winner is Andrew P. Schachat, MD.
Women in Retina Symposium (WinR)
The mission of Women in Retina or "WinR" is to develop a collegial forum for women in retina with the goal of offering networking and mentoring opportunities not currently provided by other organizations in ophthalmology. WinR will host a lunch with a guest speaker and we look forward to seeing all women there.
