International Retinal Imaging & Medical Retina Research Fellowship

The Vitreous Retina Macula Specialists of Toronto is offering a non-funded one-year International Research Fellowship in the study of medical retina and retinal imaging. The international fellowship will prepare graduates for a career in academic ophthalmology with an emphasis on retinal imaging as well as diagnosis, evaluation, and management of a wide array of retinal disorders including but not limited to; age related macular degeneration (ARMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, inflammatory retinopathy, drug-related toxic retinopathy, hereditary retinal degeneration and dystrophy.

 
Eighty percent of the fellow's time will be spent in medical retina research. Twenty percent of the fellow's time will be spent in patient care related to the research programs. Applicants should be knowledgeable and proficient in the evaluation and management of a broad spectrum of retinal disorders. One year of projected research time permits the fellow to complete and publish several meaningful research projects in the realm of retinal imaging and medical retinal disease. The fellow will be encouraged to present results of  investigations at local and national and international scientific meetings. The fellow will also be expected to complete research projects with publication in a peer reviewed ophthalmology journal. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to academic ophthalmology and the development of a professional career devoted to medical retinal disease.
